How has your experience been with JC imagery and how did Jodi make you feel?
JC Imagery is the one for beauty and perfection! Jodi is superb with what she does and is very professional. She made us feel very welcome and comfortable. I just love her work!!!
What was the highlight of your session?
The uniqueness in Jodi’s photography skills, style, and creativeness.
Why did you choose JC Imagery?
I have seen her work through Facebook and instantly fell in love! At that point, I knew that I had to book my newborn session with her!
Pregnancy…
Is there a story surrounding your pregnancy? Was it a breeze or did your little one make you work for it?
My pregnancy journey is memorable. I had a pretty good first and second trimester but my last trimester was eventful because my pregnancy became high risk.
I had polyhydramnios (an excessive amount of amniotic fluid) and my baby was macrosomic (giant baby) making me at risk of pre-term labour… From this, Pia decided to come out at 32 weeks… But overall, I enjoyed my pregnancy!
How did you find out whether you were having a boy or a girl? Or was it a total surprise?
I had NIPT (non-invasive pregnancy test) at 12weeks and I immediately found out my baby’s gender through the test!
How did you come up with your baby’s name? And did you have other names that you used while your bub was still in the womb)?
The father chose her first name, ‘Pia’. He said he just liked it! The second name is from my sister’s name. We used to call her all different things when she was still in my belly, Ferg or Morag. Her Uncle Peter was the culprit to these ugly names but we used them anyway… Haha
Preparation
Tell me your favourite stores that you are obsessed with shopping at (this may help other parents prepare for their new miracle).
Well, I always had my eye out for any special offers. It’s always good to think and plan before you go shopping. I did heaps of research, looking for quality items with good reviews.
I listed down the things that my baby would use long-term, such as a pram, car seat, nappy bag, and baby carrier… I purchased the best ones, brand new. Other items such as outfits etc, I brought second hand as she’ll grow out of them quickly! Chemist Warehouse is great for all other items that you would use on a daily basis.
How far in advance did you prepare the nursery? Or did you wing it last minute?
The nursery was partially set-up when Pia surprisingly arrived at 32 weeks!
Tips and tricks!
Do you have any tips for expecting mums?
Well, always take care of yourself and your little human in your womb. Your well-being is your best priority. Stay happy and healthy!
Do you have any tips and tricks for parents adjusting to parenthood in those early days?
Know your support system and don’t hesitate to ask for their help. It is tough but so rewarding. Cry if you must especially when you are struggling but don’t forget to get help…
You will definitely lose good sleep and patience but never lose yourself. Remember, it’s just a stage and there’s a little human depending their life to you.
Posed newborn photography is done within the first 14 days of life so clients generally book a few months in advance. It is rare that I’ll be able to fit you in last-minute (once your baby has arrived) so it’s extremely important get in touch early!
Once you are booked in… I’ll make a note of your estimated due date, then once baby arrives, we’ll organise an actual time for the session. Super easy!
